Monthly Fishing Tournaments (for both adult & youth)
SSWA has 2-types of tournaments; a monthly SSWA contest in which all members are entered automatically and a series of more formalized tournaments during the year with the emphasis on fun.
Ashley River Cleanup
One of the most important things we do as a fishing club is community service. At our founding, we decided to adopt the Ashley River as our home waters and we focus our efforts on it as a result.
This is an annual fun event and a great way to support the conservation of our local waters.
SSWA End-Of-The-Year Party/Oyster Roast
This is a great time, with great food for a greater cause! Take a chance on a wide variety of raffle drawings plus a “live” auction for some outstanding items with all the proceeds benefiting Dorchester Children’s Center.
Ralph Phillips organized a meeting to gauge local interest in a Summerville Saltwater Fishing Club on a Tuesday, March 8th, 2011 at Miler Country Club. Approximately 50 interested anglers attended the meeting with much enthusiasm. A temporary board was appointed by Ralph, consisting of anglers who expressed interest in helping get the club started. The first board meeting for SSWA was held on March 21st, 2011 at Miler CC. The club quickly reached its membership goal of 100 members, and has started a waiting list.
