Keep Dorchester County Beautiful is currently planning the 2020 Ashley River Cleanup and hope that the Summerville Salt Water Anglers and the Lowcountry Land Trust will participate again this year. We will keep with the concentration on land based areas again, but all boats are still welcome to participate. Things went very well last year and I hope to improve this years’ experience for the volunteers as well. March 14th is the current, tentative date.
I will be able to handle most of the logistics for the event like last year. Cleanup maps, supplies, disposal and other details will be handled by Keep Dorchester County Beautiful. Our main focus for SSWA will be participation and any volunteers will greatly be appreciated.
Last year KDCB reported a total of 7,620 lbs. of litter, with 120 volunteers, to Keep America Beautiful. The previous year we had about half that total with half the volunteers. Unfortunately, we all know that the trash is there to be picked up again.
Thank you and let me know of any concerns and ways we can improve the volunteer experience this year,
